Cinematic.
Bored of black and white cityscapes decided to edit this with some split toning, trying to make it look cold like the scenes from Sherlock Holmes films. The bird helped to add some drama.

Day 6: Isolate.
One of the rare times when I don’t abide by the rule of 3rds. Would also like to send a big Thank You to the (now 101) followers that helped me reach the 100 milestone yesterday – on my birthday! That’s quite some timing!

Day 5: Unnoticed.
I also didn’t notice the small bug on the stalk when taking the photo and truthfully, if I hadn’t spotted it in Lightroom I wouldn’t have posted the photo. I think it gives a second element to an otherwise ordinary flower photo. I wish I had focused on it a little better, perhaps by lifting my camera to make…

Day 2: Stay or Leave.
I was really looking forward to august since weve had a swarm of butterflies around our buddleia bush last year. I checked up on it every other day for a month and thebest I could catch was this… and it’s not even on that plant. Any lepidopterers on here know anything about this years butterfly…

Day 5: Top Down.
Trying to mix up the perspective so that each shot is a little different this week. I guess they all are because the flowers are different but I do this mainly to practice with macro photography so change is only good.

Day 4: Dog Rose.
I was surprised to learn that this is a type of rose. I guess this is a wild species and the flower-shop roses we see today used to look something like this, before they were bred to look… well, nicer. Like in many of my macro shots, I like a blurry foreground as well as…

Day 2: Distorted.
It was an overcast day which was good for smooth, delicate macro shots. The bokeh here came out so deep that it’s almost dizzying to look at.

Day 1: Wicked Fruit.
Unannounced, comes the 4th Macro Week. Friday is the new Monday so here’s the first of 7 street-macro shots I took. I say ‘street-macro’ because all of these are taken of front garden plants or in one instance a tree. Just want to show that to take macro photos you don’t need to have plants…
