Comparing this image to the shot from the Canon 100mm lens, you can see that the shot is a lot tighter, given only a 35mm focal length difference. This means that when using an adapter from the Canon FD mount to Canon EF, the increased distance between the lens and the sensor, crops the image, giving the lens a lot more zoom.
